Nursery

Kip has been working very hard this week on the babies nursery. We picked out paint colors on Monday. We figured turquiose and brown would work for a boy or a girl. Kip taped the room off on Tuesday and started painting on Wednesday. He finished up the touch up and moldings on Thursday. Then he assembled the cribs today Friday. It is very pretty. I am so pleased with our beautiful nursery. I will post more pictures as we add more furniture and accessories to the room.

Joining the Mini Van Clan

Kip and I have officially joined the Mini Van Clan. After looking at all of our options, we decided the best vehicle for us would be a mini van. Although the van does insult Kip's masculinity, he agreed that it will be much easier getting the babies out of a van rather than a third row equip SUV.
We went and looked at both options the mini vans and the third row equip SUVs. Looking at price and features we decided on the KIA Sedona. We were able to get a top of the line van with sun roof, dvd player, heated seats, etc at a very reasonable price. We will be able to pick it up tomorrow or Thursday. I am very excited, but will feel weird driving it without the babies here yet. Such a big car for just me.

Fertility Drugs

Lots of people have asked, "Did you use fertility drugs?" The answer is, yes. I know lots of people don't like to talk about these things, but as a person who went through fertility problems it helped just knowing I wasn't alone. It seemed like my friends were getting pregnant left and right. They would say, "We weren't even trying" or "It happened the first month we tried." Well, for us it didn't.
If you don't know me well, I am the type of person that does my research and tries to be as effective as possible. So from the very beginning, I used ovulation tests and basal body temperature charts. It would have helped if I had a normal cycle, but that didn't happen. Some would be around 47days others upwards of 120+ days. I bought ovulation tests in bulk because I was not going to miss that egg when it dropped. Needless to say, I never once had a normal basal body temperature chart or a positive ovulation test the whole time we were trying on our own. Other strange things started happening too. My hair started falling out and getting super thin. I started getting facial hair and my acne was in full blown attack. So not only was I not getting pregnant but I also felt like I was turning into some kind of monster. Kip just loved this time (sarcasm.)
After a year of trying, I made an apt. with my doctor. I took the body temp charts, my calander of ovulation test results and my cycle information. After some consideration, and blood work to check my hormone levels, I was diagnosed with Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS.) This is when my body doesn't produce female hormones that mature and egg to release it. Instead I produce a lot more male hormones, which explained all the strange side effects. The doctor then told me that it would be very hard to get pregnant and that if I wanted to have a baby we needed to start some fertility meds.
I began my first cycle of clomid in March 2010. I took 50mg on days 5-9 of my cycle. On day 24 they checked my progesterone levels. The normal level of a woman, if she ovulated should be between about 10. My levels came back at 0.4. So the first round didn't work. The doctor gave me provera to have a period (because if you don't ovulate you don't get a period.) This round I started in April I took 100mg on days 5-9. This time when I went for blood work on day 24 my progesterone levels were 30. I actually ovulated. Now I just had to wait to see if my egg found a friend to make a baby. On Mother's Day I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. The rest is history.
I feel very blessed that it only took two rounds of fertility drugs. Other women with my disease go through many rounds and usually have to go to other procedures to have babies. God has been very good.

Triplets!!!

We found out using a home pregnancy test that we were pregnant on Mother's Day, May 9th. Kip and I were extremely excited because we had be trying for some time. I called my doctor and set up an appointment to confirm the pregnancy on June 6th. At the visit, the exam went well and my samples looked good. Then we were off to ultrasound. We were all set up and the tech said "There we go...and it looks like there are three of them." Kip and I started rolling with laughter. The tech was very interested in our reaction and said, "Well, you are taking this news very well." I explained that we weren't surprised that it was triplets. This is why.....

In July 2009, I went with my family to New Orleans. It was a very fun trip. We saw some gorgeous plantations and visited the city. While in the square, mom and I decided to get our fortunes told. There was a lady set up on the corner reading tarrot cards. Her card table and beach chair with umbrella, made her look very professional. She explained that she could tell you about your past, present or future. I of course chose my future. She gave me the usual information about Kip being my soulmate, us never having to really worry about money, and that we will be very happy. Then she said, "In August you will have some legal issues." This information interested me. I am not the kind of person to get into trouble. She then said that I will start having children in a year and a half. She took my hand and turned it to the outside and said, "You will have three children, right on top of each other."

Now back to the ultrasound. Kip, knowing what the fortune teller had told me, had been teasing me about having triplets since we found out we were pregnant in May. The legal issues in August of 2009 came true, so why not this. Let's just hope the happy, healthy, and fincial security come true too.

Today we went in for our 12 week ultrasound to check on the babies. They did some testing to look for genetic abnormalities. Everything came back great. They are all healthy! They are moving and waving. When they are laying there they put their hands up by their heads. They are all the same exact size and their heartbeats were 160, 161, and 162.

We are very blessed and are looking forward to sharing as many of these moments with all of you! Keep us in your thoughts and prayers because triplet pregnancies are high risk. We are staying very positive and are ready to embark on our journey to being parents.

Anniversary

Tomorrow Kip and I will be celebrating six fantastic years of marriage. We have had many laughs and tears over the ten years we have been together (four years of dating, six years of marriage.) I feel very blessed to be able to have someone like Kip to share my life with. I am sure he feels just as blessed. Even if he did tell Sam, in his speech about dating girls, that sometimes a man just has to lower his standards. I am positive this wasn't in reference to me. I would not be doing my wifely duty, if I let him live it down though.
